Yet another FAKE Van Rysselberghe! This painting, an oil on an old, cheap piece of cardboard, which I went to examine in Italy, is, in my opinion, a forgery. It is a freely and clumsily interpreted pastiche of Van Rysselberghe’s masterpiece ‘La promenade’ (MRBAB collection). Sadly, it comes as no surprise to see it authenticated by a catalogue that is ‘reasoned’ in name only, with no interest in art or the art market, and whose 2026 edition is every bit as dismal as the already disastrous 2003 edition.
